Denise Quirk Baillot
Your Psychotherapist in Paris
Denise has extensive experience and training in dealing with crisis
situations, conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation; self-esteem and adaptation issues; depression,
anxiety problems and phobias.
She specializes in eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder,
compulsive overeating). The subject of her doctoral thesis (to be defended in 2010) is "Eating disorders and
eating behaviors: France vs the USA".
Denise's training and experience is overall
in client-centered therapy, using cognitive-behavioral
techniques.
Denise's style is primarily based on compassionate
listening combined with dynamic "team
work" with her clients.
She involves the client in his/her recovery with the goal of harnessing the
client's strengths and skills in order to assist them in developing a more satisfying life situation. When
needed and appropriate, she offers assistance in problem-solving, but overall she reinforces each client's
ability to use their own wisdom and intuition in solving their life challenges. She attempts to assist clients
in regaining confidence in their own capabilities so that a dependent relationship on the therapist is not
fostered. Sometimes it is necessary to uncover past trauma and life events which affect the present in order to
resolve them and improve one's life in the now. Yet this is not necessary in all cases. If the client prefers
to work on present issues at hand their desire is respected.
Denise makes use of a wide range of techniques in therapy sessions, as needed: Ericksonean
hypnosis, visualisation, bibliotherapy, visualisation methods, supportive listening and reflecting, family
therapy and mediation, conflict resolution, readiness for change technique, empowerment
education.
Denise presently welcomes both francophone and anglophone individuals and
couples in Paris.
